Spoolsv.exe hogging CPU time

[edit] Symptom:

Machine sluggish and spoolsv.exe consuming 90+% CPU time for extended periods.

[edit] Possible Cause:

There may be print jobs in the Microsoft Office Document Image Writer.

[edit] Possible Fix:

Make sure the Print Spooler service is still running. (ie. you haven't killed off the offending spoolsv.exe process) Open up the print queue for the Microsoft Office Document Image Writer and remove any jobs. Normal operation should return.
